Over the last few years I have put a lot of my sailing focus on keelboat racing, primarily as a helmsman. My starting point was in a Sigma 33 'Honey of Bosham', winning Cowes week twice, finishing 2nd in both the Nationals and Europeans, and winning the Skandia Young Skippers Trophy.
I soon progressed to the Mumm 30, and in 2004 I drove 'Media Network International' to 5th overall in the Europeans and won the Red Funnel Regatta.
Most of 2005/early 2006 was spent driving the Ker 11.3 'HighLife' in the UK, US, and Carribean with the highlight of the season being a 2nd at Key West.
My main keelboat focus in 2006/07 was driving for Unlimited Sailing on their Melges 24 team. We have had a great campaign with top 10 finishes in most International regattas and a 9th in the star studded fleet at the 2007 Europeans. I also did a number of big regattas in 06/07 in the Farr 45 fleet with top 3 finishes in all regattas.
2008 was mainly UK based helming Eamonn O'nolan's Farr 45 "Freddie Freeloader". We had a great season winning 7 of the 10 regattas. I also drove Peter Harrisons Farr 52 to 4th in the Round the Island Race this year.
2009 will be a year where my keelboat sailing will take a back seat so that I can focus on my Olympic campaign in the Star class. I intend to do some Etchells racing in the UK as a build up to the Worlds in Ireland in 2010 and the Melges 24 Europeans in August.
